Overview
Faith Christian Preschool is a small, community-minded, faith-centered preschool located in the beautiful, coastal town of Homer, Alaska. For over 30 years, it has offered a warm, nurturing learning environment at an affordable cost. The preschool is connected to Faith Lutheran Church, a close-knit community of believers.
Recent graduates and those nearly done with their education degree are invited to apply to join this ministry as full-time lead teacher.
Lead Teacher Overview:
A Christian preschool teacher is responsible for providing a Christ-centered, developmentally appropriate education to young children, fostering their spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth within a safe and nurturing environment. The teacher serves as both an educator and a Christian role model, integrating Biblical principles throughout the curriculum and daily interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Create lesson plans that support and implement the provided curriculum for 3-5 year olds, incorporating social, cognitive, language, gross and fine motor skills.
Provide children with experiences and opportunities that allow them to develop curiosity, initiative, problem-solving skills, and creativity, as well as a sense of self and belonging.
Collaborate with other teachers, assistants, administration, as well as communicate regularly with parents / caregivers.
Spiritual and Personal Qualities:
Demonstrate a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with the school’s statement of faith.
Maintain regular involvement in a local church and seek ongoing spiritual and professional growth.
Professional Qualifications:
Be currently enrolled in an education program or be a recent graduate of an education program and demonstrate experience working with young children in an educational setting.
Provide a statement of faith.
Provide a resume and two letters of recommendation.
This is a full-time lead position. Wage is approximately $20-25 per hour, dependent on education and experience. Health insurance and housing are also offered.
