Position Title: High School Counselor

Division: High School

Supervisor: Director of Counseling

Position Summary:

Concordia International School Hanoi is seeking an experienced and dedicated High School Counselor to serve students in Grades 9–10. This role encompasses social-emotional, academic, and foundational university counseling, requiring a collaborative professional who will work as part of a team of three high school counselors.

The ideal candidate will have experience in international school counseling, a strong understanding of the college admissions landscape, and a passion for supporting student well-being in a diverse, Christian, international school environment. This position requires occasional international travel for professional development and university counseling events during the school year and a designated summer period.

Education and Professional Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Counseling (required)
5 years of experience in international school counseling at the HS level (required)
Professional license in counseling (preferred)
Commitment to the school’s Christian values and mission (preferred).
General Responsibilities:

Social-Emotional Counseling
Provide individual counseling for Grade 9–10 students on a range of social-emotional issues.
Teach grade-level seminar classes covering SEL, career exploration, and college preparation topics.
Monitor weekly wellness survey data and provide interventions as needed.
Offer short-term crisis counseling and coordinate with outside therapists or psychologists as appropriate.
Conduct parent information sessions and collaborate on child protection cases.
Support student transitions (new student orientation, re-entry support, etc.).
Academic Support
Guide students in the course registration process and support schedule development for Grades 9–10.
Monitor academic progress, identify at-risk students, and provide interventions.
Assist in managing standardized assessments (MAP, PSAT, SAT, etc.) and analyzing student achievement data.
Participate actively in the Student Support Team and other school-wide initiatives.
Serve as the SSD Coordinator to help students in securing appropriate accommodations on standardized testing
University Counseling Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive annual student and parent meetings, addressing wellness, academics, co-curricular involvement, career interests, and foundational college planning for grade 9 and grade 10 students.
Support foundational college counseling for Grade 9 and 10 students preparing for a wide range of global university pathways.
Assist with planning and hosting Concordia’s annual World University Fair, College Bootcamp Week, alumni events, and university visits to Concordia.
Chaperone the annual U.S. college tour and represent Concordia at international conferences as directed (e.g., EARCOS, NACAC, ISCA, International ACAC).
Manage student/school information systems (e.g., PowerSchool, Maia Learning).
Stay current with university admissions trends and policy changes.
Additional Responsibilities
Participate in ongoing professional development related to counseling, social-emotional learning, and college admissions.
Support school-wide events and initiatives as assigned by the Principal, Director of Counseling, or Head of School.

Concordia International School Hanoi is a private, non-profit, co-educational, international day school with English instruction. Fluency in English is required for entry. EAL support is available. Concordia is governed by a Board of Trustees, comprised of corporate executives who support and promote Concordia’s development and growth. Concordia was founded in 2011 as a Preschool to Grade 7 institution and has annually added the next higher grade level. The first high school graduation took place June 2017.
