Position Title: Elementary STEM Instructional Coach
Division: Elementary School (ES)
Supervisor: ES Principal
Position Summary:
Together with the ES administrative team, the position of STEM Instructional Coach will provide
leadership and support for Science and Technology initiatives in Preschool (PS) to Grade 5 (G5) and will work with the classroom teachers to create and/or implement the programs as outlined below.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach STEM classes for PS to G5.
Maintain and operate the ‘Maker’s Space’ in the Elementary School
NGSS Engineering Standards Implementation Coaching and Curriculum Design
Collaborate with Reception (Rec) to G5 teachers to help them design and implement authentic learning activities aligned with the NGSS standards, with special emphasis on integration of the Engineering Standards
Work with teachers to increase their comfort level and understanding of the standards
Write activity descriptions with assessment tools and add them to Rubicon Atlas
Together with the ES administration, Support Project Based Learning in PS-Rec
ISTE Technology Standards Implementation Coaching and Curriculum Design
Collaborate with Rec-G5 teachers to help them to design and implement authentic learning activities aligned with the ISTE standards
Create a scope and sequence of developmentally appropriate critical technology learning experiences/understandings for PS-G5. Work with teachers to find ways that these experiences naturally integrate into subject area curriculum as much as is appropriate
Organize and hold the Week of Code event (Semester 1) & Codeathon/Maker Faire event (Semester 2)
Provide professional development opportunities to teachers through in-class collaboration as well as after-school offerings.
Together with the leadership team, inspire and lead the development of an Elementary-wide Maker’s Culture.
Position Qualifications:
Education
[required] Bachelor’s degree in Education or STEM-related field.
[desired] Advanced degree in education or STEM-related field.
Experience
[required] Minimum 3 years of successful teaching in a school setting
[required] Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
[desired] Experience working in an international school setting
[desired] Familiarity with the American educational system
[desired] Experience working successfully with an ethnically diverse population
[desired] Experience working with students with specific learning needs
[desired] Experience working with English Language Learners (ELLs).
