Overview

Agnus Dei Lutheran Classical Academy (LCMS) in Cupertino, CA seeks candidates for the position of Long-Term Substitute Teacher for the 2025-2026 School Year for its self-contained multi-grade elementary cottage school. The Substitute Teacher is expected to implement daily lessons to students in an individualized, highly academic, enriched environment that aligns with our Classical Christian Education model. This includes teaching all subjects and approaching daily activities from a Lutheran-Christian approach.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach academic content to students
  • Demonstrate a high level of classroom management
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage students in active learning

COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, and students
  • Demonstrate the ability to establish good and appropriate relationships with students
  • Prior classroom experience in an elementary setting is preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with classical methodology and Lutheran-Christian approach
  • Must be willing to learn a classical approach to the subjects taught
  • Ability to teach Latin is a plus, but not required
  • A strong commitment to the emphasis and philosophy of Agnus Dei Lutheran Classical Academy
  • Positive support of the school’s policies and practices
  • Service-oriented and able to interface with many people
  • Truthful, positive, and purposeful when communicating with others
  • Must be punctual and dependable
  • Flexible and adaptable in dealing with new, different, or changing requirements
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation
