Position Title: Financial Manager

Status: Part-Time, 15-20 hrs/wk

Reports to: Director of Operations

Job Description

To serve Christ the King Lutheran Church by the assisting the Early Learning Center and Executive Staff in the development and maintenance of the budget, bill paying, and financial administrative duties of Christ the King and its ministries. This position will be combined with the Director of Operations position for full time, exempt employment.

Manage and report on Christ the King’s donations, monetary funds, accounts payable and payroll and benefits, as well as provide accurate and timely financial information to the Executive Director/Director of Operations, Treasurer, and church leadership, and assist with forecasting and strategy for managing Christ the King’s cash flow and stewardship.

Qualifications

Possess a clear understanding of the mission and ministry of Christ the King and our Early Learning Center, have a caring attitude toward the congregation and the public.  Must be current and proficient in computer skills – Quick Books and all Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel). Have a working knowledge of Financial Principles, accounting best practices and sound fiscal practices.

Responsibilities

1.         Performs administrative duties within assigned area.

2.         Follow bookkeeping procedures as directed by the Executive Director/Director of Operations and Treasurer.

3.         Keep the Executive Director/Director of Operations informed on key financial issues.

4.         Maintains an electronic system for logging and paying bills via QuickBooks

5.         Record CTK deposits and any journal entries needed to distribute funds – keep log of journal entries.

6.         Write checks for payroll, federal deposits, and state deposits in a timely manner.

7.         Record all handwritten checks on the computer.

8.         Transfer funds when needed and as directed by the Executive Director/Director of Operations and Treasurer.

9.         Run reports as requested.

10.       Maintain filing system for vendors, payroll, and tax payments.

11.       Create federal and state tax returns for review of Treasurer.

12.       Create W-2’s and 1099’s at end of year.

13.       Distribute scholarship funds to LS, donations to LS, memorials to endowment. Also calculating what LS owes CTK.

14.       Create journal entries to Class expensed and redistribute administration expenses for the school.

15.       Writes memorial acknowledgements and maintains records and spreadsheets.

Employment in this position is contingent upon performance, need and funding, as appropriate.

This position has the option to start before September 1, 2025.
