Overview

Position Title: School Librarian

Division: Schoolwide

Supervisor: Director of Teaching and Learning

Position Summary: The library plays a central role in the implementation of the educational program at Concordia International School Hanoi. It is a learning cornerstone of the school with a vibrant community atmosphere. As such, we are looking for an experienced librarian to provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program thrives and is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school.

Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the related field (required) and Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent (preferred).

● Qualified and licensed teacher.

● Minimum of 5 years of library or teaching experience, ideally in an international context.

● Demonstrated expertise in information and digital literacy, research skills instruction, and literature across a range of ages.

● Strong intercultural competency and experience working in diverse, multilingual environments.

● Comfort with the Google Suite, AI, and using technology to enhance student learning. ● Proven ability to lead, innovate, and manage resources effectively.

● In-depth knowledge of current library and AI developments and a strong enthusiasm to keep up-to-date with these.

● Commitment to ongoing professional growth.

● Working knowledge of Follett Destiny (or similar library management systems), MARC records, and Dewey Decimal cataloging.

● Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with parents, teachers, and students.

● Excellent organizational skills, demonstrating a clear understanding of priorities and delegation.

● Demonstrated passion for learning, unlearning, and re-learning.

● Expansive knowledge of a wide range of reading genres and an ability to foster a love of reading in others. General

Responsibilities:

● Lead and manage all levels of the library collection effectively, providing a stimulating, user-friendly, and welcoming library service for all members of the school.

● Develop and maintain the learning resources collections, in collaboration with department teams, to meet the requirements of each division’s curriculum.

● Build successful collaboration between the library and teachers, including team teaching of research skills, digital literacy, and academic integrity skills across the school.

● Deliver specific programs for students in liaison with teachers through collaborative instruction, resource support, and push-in/pull-out methods.

● Design and facilitate formal and informal professional learning for staff on the use of the library facilities and related services.

● Develop and maintain the library management system.

● Develop and coordinate the maintenance of library websites.

● Plan and facilitate events and initiatives that promote reading and other library-related activities.

● Set and actively work toward annual employee goals.

● Develop, implement, and evaluate short- and long-term library goals and strategies.

● Manage the library budget to ensure effective provision in supporting school needs.

● Promote and market library services and activities to the school community.

● Oversee training and supervision of all library staff.

● Attend and actively participate in schoolwide and divisional (as needed) meetings.

● Teach regularly-scheduled elementary school classes in grades preschool-5.

● Other duties as assigned.
