Position Title: MS/HS Music Teacher

Division: Middle School (MS) & High School (HS)

Supervisor: HS Principal

Position Summary:

At Concordia International School Hanoi, we believe students and our community are powerfully and positively impacted by the arts.  This position is an opportunity to design and teach a range of secondary music and drama courses as well as to direct the development of our secondary performing arts program.  We aim to continue to develop an exciting, progressive, and standards-based program that includes offerings ranging from beginning to advanced at our middle and high schools.  Ensembles may consist of one or two (1 or 2) middle school choirs and one or two (1 or 2) high school choirs, as well as a high school musical theater ensemble.  Other duties include sponsoring co-curricular and after-school music and drama opportunities for students, as well as organizing students to participate in external music festivals and drama performances.

Education and Professional Qualifications:

Education

[required] Bachelor’s degree in music education or vocal performance
[desired] Master’s degree in music education or choral/vocal performance.
Professional Experience

[required] Minimum 3 years of successful teaching in a school setting
[required] Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
[desired] Experience working in an international school setting
[desired] Familiarity with the American educational system
[desired] Experience working successfully with an ethnically diverse population
[desired] Experience working with pre-adolescents and adolescents
[desired] Experience working with students with specific learning needs
[desired] Experience working with English Language Learners (ELLs).

Prioritized Experience

[highly desired] Training and experience teaching AP Music Theory
[highly desired] Training and experience teaching drama
[desired] Understanding and appreciation of global musical learning experiences
[desired] Familiarity with the National Core Arts Standards.

Desired Skills & Program Familiarity:

PowerSchool Learning
Google Suite cloud applications: Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, etc.
Video conferencing software, including Zoom
Standards-based learning, assessment, grading, and reporting (SBL, SBG, SBA, SBR)
Curriculum development using Understanding by Design (UbD)
Differentiation of instruction to meet students’ individual needs and interests
Online/remote / distance learning
Teacher collaboration (e.g., Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)) leading to clarity, consistency, and improved student learning
Social-emotional learning programs such as Advisory.

About Concordia International School Hanoi

Concordia International School Hanoi is a private, non-profit, co-educational, international day school with English instruction. Fluency in English is required for entry. EAL support is available. Concordia is governed by a Board of Trustees, comprised of corporate executives who support and promote Concordia’s development and growth. Concordia was founded in 2011 as a Preschool to Grade 7 institution and has annually added the next higher grade level. The first high school graduation took place June 2017.
