Position Summary

Concordia Lutheran Schools of Omaha seeks a dedicated, passionate teacher to join our Academy staff. We are seeking a 5th grade teacher who loves Jesus and is committed to fostering a learning environment that will engage and equip upper elementary students.  This teacher will integrate Biblical principles into daily instruction, foster a classroom culture of grace and accountability, and partner with families to support each child’s growth. The ideal candidate is passionate about both academic excellence and spiritual formation, and sees teaching as a calling to help students grow in wisdom, character, and faith.

Position Responsibilities

Faith Integration: Model and integrate Christian faith into teaching and student interactions.
Facilitation: Create and exhibit a positive learning environment for various students at the 5th grade level.
Instructional Planning and Delivery: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligning with Concorida’s curriculum guidelines. Utilize various teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. Foster a classroom environment encouraging student participation, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Assessment and Evaluation: Design and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress and maintain accurate records of student progress.
Communicate effectively with parents, students, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational trends.
Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and refinement of the 5th grade curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of all students.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support students’ overall success and well-being.

Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, respectful classroom culture that reflects the values and mission of Concordia Lutheran Schools.
Lesson Planning and Organization: Skill in developing structured and engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and accommodate different learning paces and styles.
Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues, both in written and verbal forms, to provide updates, feedback, and support as needed.
Adaptability and Flexibility: Capability to adjust teaching strategies and lesson plans to meet diverse student needs and varying class dynamics.
Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with educational technology and tools to enhance instruction, such as language learning apps, online resources, or multimedia presentations, helping make lessons interactive and engaging.
Student Engagement Techniques: Knowledge of strategies to make learning interactive, relevant, and enjoyable, fostering a love of learning.
Assessment and Feedback: Ability to assess student understanding through age-appropriate formative and summative assessments.
Professionalism and Dependability: Commitment to Concordia’s mission and values, reliability in attendance and preparation, and a professional demeanor that reflects positively on the school community.

Professional Expectations and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary or Middle Level education.
Valid Nebraska Teaching certification or ability to become certified.
Experience teaching upper elementary is preferred.
Strong communication skills and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching students and communicating with parents.
