Position Purpose:

This position leads research and instruction services to library users, individually and in groups.  This position also acts as liaison to faculty and contributes to curriculum planning, especially regarding the integration and assessment of information literacy goals.  This is a full-time position with full-time benefits.  Must be at least 19 years of age to apply.

Responsibilities:
Oversee the strategic planning, advancement, and operational direction of the research and instruction services in the library, with a commitment to continuous improvement, best practices and innovation.
Coordinate the entire spectrum of in-person and online research support services by actively engaging and assisting students, faculty, and other library users with information and research inquiries.
Design and deliver innovative and engaging research and information literacy instruction sessions which integrate student learning outcomes, active learning methodologies, and assessment in close collaboration with faculty members.
Assist in updating the library website, creating research aids, and online research tools.
Provide workshops, tutorials, and training sessions on relevant topics and techniques.
Collaborate with library staff to promote library mission and services to students and faculty through creative communication channels and events both inside and outside the library.
Provide specialized consultation to faculty and staff for research projects and curriculum development.
Works in tandem with faculty and library staff for collection development.
Assist with data gathering for annual reports and participate in library assessment for accreditation and improvement.
Create and maintain a visible presence on campus representing the library on University committees or project teams, such as first-year students’ orientation, general education, and qualify of student research.
Maintain a proactive interest in pursuing the knowledge of current trends in research services, library instruction, and scholarly communications; and incorporate them into library services.

Qualifications:
Education-
Master’s degree in library science or equivalent from ALA-accredited program.
Experience-
Minimum of 1 year experience directly related to the position duties.
Specialized Knowledge-
Knowledge of academic library trends, techniques, and tools.
Proficiencies-
Demonstrated ability to teach research concepts and information literacy to a variety of learning styles in individual, classroom, and online environments.
Proficiency in the use of office applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation tools.

Additional language skills helpful (e.g. Spanish, ASL, Chinese).
