Overview
First Lutheran School is seeking a full-time first grade teacher who desires to nurture the spiritual and academic growth of students. The successful candidate will join a team of motivated and effective teaching professionals in this growing school. Our goal as a school is to foster a love for learning while keeping Christ at the center of all that is done here. First Lutheran School is a Preschool through Eighth Grade school located in Glencoe, MN with church affiliation to First Lutheran Ev. Church.
Teacher responsibilities:
• Communicate with parents regularly
• Create lesson plans for each subject area that meet all students’ learning needs
• Follow MN State Standards and other provided curriculum
• Create a welcoming environment and equip students with strategies that will allow them to be the successful learners as God has made them
• Expect Christian behavior from students including guidelines and consequences (through repentance and forgiveness) which allow students to grow in managing their own behavior
• Integrate the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) Doctrine to concepts about God’s world around us in all subjects being taught, including daily religion class
• Plan and present a chapel three times a year
• Establish a climate of love and care because Christ loves and cares for us
• Oversee lunch and outdoor time on a rotating basis
• Facilitate and coordinate in parent-teacher conferences and meetings
• Issue trimester report cards
• Maintain positive rapport with students; demonstrate patience and appropriate nurturing to assist in the growth of the child.
• Help plan field trips that will foster an appreciation for God’s creation and the world around us
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom that promotes learning and responsibility
• Any other duties that may be assigned throughout the year
Teacher skills:
• A positive, Christian behavior
• A 4-year degree in elementary education
• Valid state-issued teaching certificate is preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to teach creatively
• Can successfully contribute to staff discussions
• Help out with extracurricular activities as needed or assigned
