First Lutheran School is looking to fill the role of Principal. This position is a full-time, salaried, 12 month position.

Our goal as a school is to foster a love for learning while keeping Christ at the center of all that is done here. First Lutheran School is a Preschool through Eighth Grade school located in Glencoe, MN with church affiliation to First Lutheran Ev. Church. We currently have about 150 students.

Position: Principal

Reports To: Day School Board

Purpose: The Principal serves as the head administrator and spiritual leader of First Lutheran  School. He/She is responsible for administering and supervising all aspects of the ministry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Participate in parish leadership by working cooperatively with Pastors, Day School Board and Church Council.

2. Assist the board in policy development and implements the school policies. 3. Recommend staffing needs to the Day School Board.

4. Develop and carry out a program of evaluation of the teaching personnel.

5. Work with the teachers to develop and improve the curriculum and recommend changes to the Day School Board.

6. Supervise the instructional program of the school so that the philosophy and curricular  objectives are fulfilled.

7. Oversee the ordering and purchasing of all school materials and equipment and maintains an  inventory of these materials and equipment.

8. Supervise all personnel serving under the Day School Board.

9. Promote the professional growth of the staff.

10. Promote the school within the congregation and the community and encourage parents to  enroll their children in the school.

11. Oversee the activities of the FLS Flames Booster Club.

12. Work with the Glencoe Silver Lake public school system in carrying out busing, special  education and other cooperative programs.

13. Prepare reports required by local, state, LCMS national and District officials and keep  current files of reports.

14. Willing to teach part time as needed.

Qualifications: The principal is a rostered member of the LCMS, has a valid state teaching certificate, continues to advance professionally, and is also a member of First Lutheran  Church.

Preferred: Master’s degree, SLED (School leadership development program) completion or  willing to complete SLED program.
