Job Title: Preschool Director
Reports To: Galilee Church Council
Direct Supervisor: Pastor of Galilee Lutheran Church
Salary: Salary will be determined based on level of experience and will be approved by the Church Council. As a salaried employee of the church, a retirement fund is offered by Concordia.
Yearly Contract Term: July 1st through June 30th
Summary:
The Preschool Director commits to sharing God’s love with the church, preschool staff, and preschool families throughpositive interaction, healthy communication, and honest living. The Preschool Director is responsible for handling the day-to-day operations and administration of Galilee Lutheran Preschool. The Preschool Director is in charge of directing, assisting and supporting preschool staff in accordance with regulations mandated by the Maryland Department of Education (MSDE) and the Office of Child Care (OCC) and seeks counsel from the Preschool MinistryTeam.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Follows and enforces all regulations mandated by MSDE and the OCC.
· Manages and prepares an annual financial budget and submits to the Church Council, no later than September 30.
· Meets monthly with the Preschool Ministry Team to discuss and to discuss the needs and progress of thepreschool and relationship with the church. Provides a written report
· Reports all financial transactions to Preschool Ministry Team leader, Administrative Assistant and Treasurer
· Regularly maintains and updates Preschool pages of the website
· Oversees teachers and classroom activities and orders school supplies as needed
· Encourages and supports staff and preschool families with Christ like love and understanding
· Coaches and mentors staff as needed to grow in their faith and expand knowledge of education
· Plans and executes monthly staff meetings to pray, connect and reflect on service provided by the preschool
· Plans and executes professional development opportunities for all staff
· Partners with Pastor and Church ministry staff to fulfill chapel curriculum
· Meets weekly with church staff to discuss preschool and church related events
· Plans fundraising opportunities for necessary projects
· Contributes to church and preschool communications (social media, newsletter, etc) in a way that reflects positively on Galilee Lutheran Church and Preschool
· Coordinates and facilitates school wide events including (but not limited to) open house, community outreachevents, singing during church services, holiday performances, promotion, field trips and class picnic.
· Coordinates school participation in community outreach opportunities
· Refers families to Child Find or Infants and Toddlers to explore concerning student needs

Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in Education and experience teaching in the classroom (or its equivalent) is desired but not required
· Director’s Training or equivalent course
· Prior experience in a preschool or educational setting required
Language Skills
Must speak, read, and write English fluently. Strong verbal and communication skills required. Effective interpersonalskills required to interact with preschool and church staff, preschool families and students, and members of the localcommunity.
Salary
$40,000 – $60,000 – based on experience and education
