Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy in Broken Arrow, OK has a part-time opening for an inspiring band director to join our energetic Fine Arts team teaching beginner and intermediate band to 5th-8th grade students. The teacher will help students grow in their ability, appreciation, and performance of instrumental music through lesson planning, instrument instruction, and collaboration with other areas of ILCA’s fine arts department. We are looking to grow the program.  This position has the potential to be expanded to full-time in 24-25.


Degree in Music or Music Education
2+ years teaching/band directing experience
Ability to work well and relationally with middle school students and musicians at all skill levels
Knowledge of band instrument techniques & overall operation of instrumental music program
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain professional demeanor under stress


Direct Beginner Band and Intermediate Band and develop small ensembles. (Our department has other teachers to potentially assist in sectional work.)
Develop and refine music curriculum based on state standards of creating, performing, evaluating, and responding.
Utilize a variety of  repertoire appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students.
Plan appropriate lessons to further student theoretical knowledge, reading, and musicianship
Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets within the department. Oversee necessary cleaning, repairing, and storing all band equipment.
Potential additional opportunities based on candidate’s qualifications: Teach private lessons for additional pay in school’s extracurricular lesson program; Assist in production of annual school musical; Assist with music for weekly Chapel services;
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior based on the student handbook to provide an orderly, productive environment conducive to learning.

Cooperate with the Director of Fine Arts, Elementary Music teacher,Headmaster, Principal and fellow staff members. This position reports to the Fine Arts Director & Headmaster.
Communicate clearly with parents and school faculty/staff
Possess basic technology skills (computers, email, Smart Board, text, etc)
