Description, Qualifications, and Responsibilities

The Math Teacher will report to the Principal.

 

Job Description:

Lutheran High School Northwest is seeking a full-time teacher committed to academic excellence and Christian discipleship. This position requires the appropriate educational degree and certification and a passion for building relationships and nurturing students’ intellectual and spiritual curiosities. The school culture is Christ-centered and relational with a focus on creating a positive, engaging, and dynamic learning experience for all students. This position follows the school’s academic calendar and requires adherence to all school and LHSA policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

 

 

 

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities:

§  Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Secondary Math, or other related field

§  Valid or eligible for a Michigan teaching license

§  Strong knowledge of high school science curriculum

§  Masters’ degree in Math is preferred, but not required

§  Understand, support, and advance the mission, vision, and values

§  Possess a passion for relational ministry

§  Be organized, optimistic, and embrace a grace-based ministry of service

§  Exhibit a desire to collaborate and contribute to the overall school community

§  Effectively utilize educational technology to enhance the educational experience for students and parents

 

Key Responsibilities:

§  Planning and preparation for instructing in the content area.

§  Assessing and evaluating student work on a regular, consistent and timely basis.

§  Providing objectives and instructional plans for each class.

§  Actively participating with students and parents regarding a student’s academic progress.

§  Maintaining and promoting a healthy and positive classroom environment.

§  Appropriately supervising the classroom when students are present.

§  Implementing and following all aspects outlined in the faculty handbook as it pertains to arrival/departure times, dress code, emergency procedures, meetings, and professional development activities, and other daily procedures of the school.
