Job Summary
Mount Olive Christian Day School is seeking a dedicated and faith-filled teacher to join our Lutheran school community. The teacher will provide high-quality instruction in a Christ-centered environment, nurturing students academically, spiritually, and emotionally. This role involves lesson planning, classroom management, faith integration, and collaboration with staff and families to support student growth.

Responsibilities
This is a list of general responsibilities and expectations. Other responsibilities may be expected as assigned or agreed upon.

Instruction & Classroom Management

  • Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that align with our school curriculum and Christian worldview.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment that supports academic and faith development.
  • Use differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Use innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and intentionally integrate the use of technology.

Assessment & Student Support

  • Assess student progress through formal and informal methods, providing timely feedback to students and families.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement, behavior, and attendance; post grades weekly.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, concerns, and celebrations.
  • Collaborate with school staff to support students’ academic and personal development.
  • Administer standardized tests, analyze student performance and integrate data into instructional planning

Faith Integration & Spiritual Development

  • Model Christian values and demonstrate a strong personal faith.
  • Lead students in daily prayer, devotions, and biblical discussions.
  • Encourage students to grow in their faith and develop a Christ-centered worldview.
  • Align instruction with the doctrine of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and church leadership.
  • Adhere to school policies, procedures, and the mission of Lutheran education.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality.
  • Communicate a positive impression of Mount Olive Lutheran Church and Christian Day School in the community and online presence.

Qualifications

Personal Faith Life

  • Maintain a personal prayer/devotional life.
  • Congregational membership at Mount Olive Lutheran Church (called) or demonstrate engagement in the communal life of a local Christian church (contracted).
  • Consistently engage in the spiritual and communal life of Mount Olive Lutheran Church.

Required Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Valid state teaching certification (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Lutheran Teacher’s Diploma (preferred).
  • Graduate degree or current work towards a graduate degree (preferred).
  • Clean Background Check.
  • Experience teaching in a Christian or Lutheran school setting (preferred).
  • Experience or desire to teach in an urban setting with a diverse student community (preferred).
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Passion for Christian education and student development.
