Position Title:            Kindergarten Teacher

Job Summary:

To teach the Word of God and the required curriculum for the assigned grade level.
To assist the principal in establishing a Christian learning environment in the school.
To work with the children and their families to assist them in becoming responsible members of the Body of Christ.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Classroom Management

Relates instruction to the Christian objectives in the school.
Uses wholesome motivational techniques that help produce the desired learning environment.
Makes effective long range and short range (daily lesson plans) planning for classroom instruction.
Maintains effective Christian discipline in the classroom.
Councils with students individually when necessary.
Keeps the classroom appearance interesting, stimulating, neat, and pleasant.
Maintains adequate records of student attendance and achievement.
Executes the standardized testing program, records, studies and utilizes the results.
Trains and supervises aides and volunteers when appropriate.
Maintains a substitute teacher folder that contains the daily schedule, class list, and materials used.

Communication:

* Communicates effectively with students, commending and reinforcing good conduct and achievement.
* Communicates effectively with parents, both in written form and in personal contact when necessary.

School Responsibilities:

* Assists with the special school programs, religious services, projects, and the extracurricular activities agreed upon.
* Is responsible for playground, lunchroom, hallway, and other supervision assigned by the principal.
* Attends faculty meetings, teacher’s conferences and additional meetings as assigned by the school principal.

Personal Responsibilities:

Willing to grow professionally through educational readings, attendance at workshops, or participation in graduate level courses.
Involvement in worship life of the Church and if at all possible becomes involved in some Church activities.
Engage in Best Practices for Kindergarten education.

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

·         Certified by the State of Illinois or taking steps toward certification following graduation.

·         Sufficient skills to fulfill the responsibility of this office.

·         Must be a rostered worker or completed the colloquy certification or able to begin colloquy within three years of employment.
