Position Overview
St. John-Emmanuel Lutheran School is seeking a dedicated and passionate full-time Junior High English Language Arts (ELA) teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will foster a love of reading and writing, support students’ academic growth, and contribute to a Christ-centered learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging ELA instruction aligned with Indiana Academic Standards
Teach reading comprehension, literature analysis, writing, grammar, and vocabulary
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners
Assess student progress using a variety of formal and informal methods
Provide timely feedback to students and communicate progress with families
Maintain a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment
Integrate faith into instruction and model Christian values in daily interactions
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and school initiatives
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
Support students’ spiritual, academic, and social-emotional growth
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
Valid Indiana teaching license (or ability to obtain)
Strong knowledge of ELA curriculum and instructional best practices
Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
Commitment to Christian education and the mission of the school
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching junior high or middle school students
Familiarity with differentiated instruction and data-driven decision making
Active member of a Christian church (preferred, if applicable to your school culture)
